1.       Loyal visitors abandoned the website when my book went on sale.

2.       Google stats took a plunge.

3.       I figured visitors are so engrossed in Sweetness the novel they don’t have time to visit the site.

4.       I could not take chances because the internet is unpredictable like the weather.

5.       I introduced drama with daily episodes, which I call the internet sitcom (i-sitcom).

6.       The name of the drama is Smart Phone The Movie, because you and I are addicted to these gadgets.

7.       Stats have gone back to normal.  No, they’ve gone through the roof.

8.       I cannot believe it that someone out there is waiting to hear how Kenya’s mother and her friends are going to outwit their abusive daughters.

9.       My worst fear now is that they are so busy with the i-sitcom, they will forget to buy the novel.  There is no relationship between the two.

10.   Ce la vie!

Well there is so much.  If you are creating a hobby blog and want ease of use, then trust me-Blogger is easiest to use.  It has very easy templates, ok so WordPress has templates too.  I have experimented with about 10 different WordPress templates.  They promise lots of options, but they presume a certain level of technical knowledge.   Google’s Blogger templates are easy-they are visual so the color choices are laid out for you, the layout on the page is done in such a user friendly way.   The whole behind the scenes interface– the “dashboard” is easier to use.

If you want to really monetize your blog, you can do that with adsense on Blogger.  But all of the web guru’s recommend to get best search engine optimization and ranking that you use WordPress.org and pay for hosting it;  basically that’s like owning your home instead of renting.   The only problem with that is if your hosting runs out and you don’t pay, your site goes down.  With Blogger since they host the site, for free it’s highly unlikely your site will disappear.   I’ve trained myself to use both at this point.

Believe it or not, patience is the key. Blogs do not become successful over night. The best way to build a blog is to remain consistent. Some would advise you to blog everyday. Posting a blog everyday does increase recognition among search engines. However, it might tire you out to post so many articles. Furthermore, your readers may become annoyed with constant email updates. Consider what is best for your blog but remember to remain patient and consistent.
