I am a British born and raised Zimbabwean with two daughters. I have always been in awe of the American black people, the struggles they endured, the success they have been able to carve out for themselves and the way in which they have made America home while hundering for knowledge of the motherland. I therefore find it hard to read this article and that such shallow, self hatred exists even today in collges! It is the kind of hatred that feed into the degrading skin lightening trend and into the hands of racist bigots. How can we berate the KKK and BNP (Uk hate group) when ridiculous things like this happen in our own community??? If we are to truly move forward as a people and individuals we need to love ourselves and each other – lets not add to the wounds that have already been inflicted on us.
